Workshop summary and objectives:
The workshop will cover the fundamental principles of two pillar stages of surgery -incisions and sutures- and the decision-making elements that are involved in their execution. It will focus on answering the following questions: How to choose the right instrumentation for an incision? Which incision line should be applied? Which suture to use for wound closure? And what materials and instruments to use?.
The incisions are the starting point of the operation, and it is important to carry them out meticulously and thoughtfully. A well-designed incision will ensure good healing and the restoration of a functional periodontal architecture. Additionally, the success of the surgery is dependent on a precise and atraumatic closure of the wound. Choosing the right material and suture technique is crucial for the success of periodontal surgery. The flaps must be properly repositioned and fully adapted to dental, bone, or periosteum surfaces.
